COULD IT BE AS SIMPLE AS THIS

Finally made it back here
To my favorite ocean place
A cove whose presence fills me with
A mysterious sense of grace

What’s happening inside me now
Is like being nudged awake
A friendly hand and whispered voice...
What of this day shall we make?

Rivulets of water
Leaving deltas in the sand
Crystalline textures in the rocks
As the ocean caresses the land

Dreams alive in the dancing waves
My troubles replaced with bliss
I slowly shake my head in awe
Could it be as simple as this?

A sudden release from the heaviness
I can physically feel it lift
As I understand this cannot be earned
I can only accept the gift

Please don’t tell me, I laugh
This was free for me here all along
How could I forget this miracle
And stay away for so long

No more must I ask myself
Can I spare the time today
Never a moment was better spent
Than discovering life this way
